T/C Rifles Feature QLA Muzzle System
Thompson/Center QLA Muzzle System Thompson/Center Arms has developed a precision muzzle system for its entire line of muzzleloading rifles, and the company claims it enhances potential accuracy and makes loading easier and quicker. The new Quick Load Accurizor (QLA) muzzle system is similar to the concept of a false muzzle but is built into the barrel. On conventional barrels with rifling at the muzzle, the bullet is not fully supported during loading and misalignment is possible. The QLA system starts the rifling further down in the barrel, thus allowing full support of the bullet which in turn means the bullet is aligned with the bore prior to engaging the rifling. Added bonuses of the system are the smoothbore design reduces the need for a short starter, and damage to the smoothbore muzzle during loading and cleaning operations has little effect on accuracy. For more information contact Thompson/Center Arms, P.O. Box 5002, Rochester, NH 03866.

New Shooting Gloves
Shooting Gloves Michaels of Oregon has just introduced new shooting gloves for pistol and shotgun shooters whose hands suffer from the effects of recoil. The black cowhide and Lycra gloves employ a gel padding material in the web between the thumb and forefinger to soak up the impact felt particularly when shooting pistols and revolvers. For shotgunners, the gloves provide a better grip as well as protection from heavy shooting in competitive sports. They come in sizes small through extra-large. Send $2 for a 56-page color catalog to Michaels of Oregon, P.O. Box 13010, Portland, OR 97213, and tell them you read about it in Muzzle Blasts Online.

Looking for NHF Day Family
National Hunting and Fishing Day will see its twenty-fifth annual observance on September 28, and plans are underway for a very special celebration focusing on the family tradition that has long gone hand-in-hand with the outdoor experience. To celebrate year 25, clubs, organizations, and individuals are asked to nominate local families to serve as the official 1996 Honorary NHF Day Family. ``What we're looking for,'' said Gary Kolesar, national coordinator, ``is one that best personifies the family tradition of hunting and fishing perhaps through involvement in conservation projects, having a large store of outdoor knowledge and skills, or other related accomplishments.'' The honorary family will be selected from nominations and will be featured in fall promotional activities. To nominate a family, write a brief letter outlining their qualifications and send it to the outdoor writer at your local newspaper or the NHF Day Headquarters at 11 Mile Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470-2359.

According to brigade member Donna Kahre, ``We'll construct a Plains Indian tipi village, with one structure open to park guests to give them a better perspective of nomadic Plains Indian lifestyles.'' Also scheduled will be shooting competitions and a Mountain Man Run. A fully stocked Traders' Row, character actors, a Wagon Wheel Workshop for children, and guided tours of historically significant sites will round out the offerings. For more information about the rendezvous, contact Donna Kahre at (307) 742-7258, or the park at (307) 745-6161.
