During the year of 1998 and the beginnings of 1999, an idea was born. That idea was the germination of Muzzle Blasts Online. After lengthy discussions and extended negotiations, CR Labs Inc., a small custom software and intenet services provider (founded on the priciples and mythology of the erstwhile AT&T Bell Labs) and the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association came to a collaborative agreement.

CR Labs Inc., d/b/a firelands.net, the internet portion of the business, secured muzzleblasts.com and the fun began. The NMLRA provided content from their paper publication Muzzle Blasts, complete with the non-exclusive copyright to said content to CR Labs Inc. CR Labs Inc., utilized the raw content to create an electronic analog of the paper magazine. Said electronic analog still exists on the original website.

In the spring of 2000, the NMLRA withdrew support for Muzzle Blasts Online and the electronic publication ceased adding content.

The domains muzzleblasts.com, muzzleblastsonline.com, muzzleblastsonline.net, muzzleblastsonline.org; their subdomains; the content contained therein; etc. are neither affiliated with the publication Muzzle Blasts which is published by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA) nor the NMLRA itself.

Subscriptions

Publication Format

Muzzle Blasts Online is an electronic magazine. It is only available online, it is not available in any form of print, not at the news stand, not by mail, and not even from AMAZON™.

Muzzle Blasts Online is, however, totally free, as in no fees, no surcharges, no subscriptions. While the content is free to read, the content consists of copyrighted material and all rights are reserved.

Status of muzzleblasts.com

Current

At this point in time Muzzle Blasts Online is no longer actively published. The archives and library remain on the web as a service to the community and those interested in the sports associated with the content.

While the current status is dormant, the spirit of the original publication has not been abandoned and the site is actively maintained.

Regardless of the dormant status, Muzzle Blasts Online has received a facelift over the course of the second quarter of 2017. The actual content has not changed only the presentation. We sincerely hope you like the new streamlined format.

Submissions and Contributions

At this time, Muzzle Blasts Online is not accepting submissions for publication. Alternatively, you may submit to The Blackpowder Journal for consideration of inclusion for future publications.

The Blackpowder Journal covers black powder shooting and related fields, including rendezvous, trekking, hunting, reenacting, etc. Any submission is accepted or rejected for possible inclusion and future possible publication at the sole discretion of the editor and publisher. The editor and publisher reserve the right to be completely arbitrary and capricious in their decision and there is no appeal. By submitting any content for publication you grant an irrevocable, non exlusive license and all rights for publication to the editor and publisher and the The Blackpowder Journal.
